Map of Cambodia

At the start of November a European Foreign Minister arrived in Cambodia and since he was a diplomat did not need to quarantine. He met with many officials including the Cambodian Prime Minister. When he arrived in Thailand, his next stop, he tested positive for Covid -19. As a direct result of this, the PM went into self isolation and it was announced all schools in Phnom Penh would shut immediately for 2 weeks. At the start of this month the schools have been shut again due to some community transmission and visits to Silk Island are also cancelled.
In November the Memorandum of Understanding between OMF and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was finally signed for the next three years.
One piece of good news is that Cambodia has been added to the UK travel corridor so it is no longer necessary to quarantine on arrival in the UK.
Garment factories continue to suffer this year. A government official said on November
22nd. that 110 factories had closed in the first nine months of this year leaving 55,000 workers without jobs.
